Learn More About In-Clinic ABA Therapy
What is ABA Therapy?
ABA works off of the concept that all behavior has a function and can be changed through an individualized program tailored to each person’s needs – and that’s precisely what it aims to provide.
Children and teens work one-on-one with an ABA practitioner in sessions to identify and target behaviors causing distress or difficulty.
This could include:
Social skills
Communication
Safety awareness
Self-care
Appropriate play skills
Academic performance
Once we identify behaviors that benefit from therapy, we craft an individualized treatment plan to target the specific problem areas.
Our ABA therapy sessions occur in various settings, including homes, schools, and clinics. Regardless of location, a tailored approach is vital to its success.
How Does In-Clinic ABA Therapy Work?
In most cases, doctors recommend in-clinic sessions to maximize potential progress. While it’s not a fit for every child—or at least not right away—an on-site arrangement can be highly effective for:
Program participation
Focus
Autism inclusion
Appointments like this are very similar to the traditional in-person doctor’s visit. Children arrive at a scheduled time and then enter a private space to work with a therapist for their session. Depending on the needs of the individual, sessions may range from ten minutes to an hour or longer.
The Benefits of In-Clinic ABA Therapy
Children (and their families) benefit in a number of ways from in-clinic ABA services, these include:
Improved Focus
Although some children respond better at home, many find in-clinic ABA services to be the most effective as they can focus more easily when surrounded by a structured and consistent environment.
Increased Cognitive Skills Development
ABA therapy administered within a clinic offers children with autism the opportunity to explore and develop cognitive skills in a fully equipped setting with the necessary tools and guidance.
These skills include:
Language
Problem-solving
Attention span
Self-regulation
Improved Social Skills
Clinic-based ABA therapy is also ideal for helping young children with autism learn and practice critical social skills. It’s an opportunity to get out of the house once in a while, yet still a safe, non-overwhelming, and welcoming place for those who may not typically be comfortable in large social settings.
Giving your child more opportunities for
connection, independence and joy.

In-Home ABA Therapy FAQ's
Preparing for An ABA Therapy Session At Full Circle Daycare
Logistics
The first step is coordinating logistics. You’ll need to find a qualified behavioral therapy provider in your area and determine what dates, times, and session lengths work best for your child.
Introductory Session
The specialist will then schedule an introductory session to get to know your child and familiarize themselves with their needs. During this session, the therapist takes note of behaviors exhibited by the child to create a personalized behavior plan for them.
Progression and Learning New Skills
The therapy sessions following the initial visit will then vary depending on the goals of the behavior plan. Generally, most sessions involve teaching new skills and implementing positive reinforcement techniques to improve existing behaviors. Your child may also participate in play-based activities to keep them engaged and maintain their enthusiasm for therapy.
Practicing Skills at Home
While clinical is one of the best types of ABA therapy for its controlled environment, your therapist may also ask you to practice any skills taught during the session at home.
Switching Up Locations
There may also come when your child feels comfortable meeting their ABA specialist elsewhere, such as at school. Location change allows the therapist to observe how your child responds in different settings and provide more tailored input.

Where Can I Find Clinic-Based ABA Therapy Near Me?
Doctors, teachers, and other school staff may have recommendations for local Applied Behavior Analysis specialists they’ve worked with before. You can always run a quick Google Search of ‘clinic-based ABA therapy near me’ too—just be sure a qualified provider of ABA services administers the program you end up with.
